A Country Walk
Walking,
walking and thinking,
Walking, thinking and whistling.
A pastime enjoyed by more than one,
Relaxing, soothing, calming, fun.
In snow, rain or in the sun.
Stresses,
pain, sorrowful emotions gone,
Are results of what the walk has done.
Things to do and things to see,
Animals, birds, plants and trees.
Onward
we walk through field and track,
Stopping only briefly for a snack.
Many
a countryman walks with a stick,
An aid, a weapon or just a friend,
The countryman follows his father's trend.
Fences,
hedges gates to pass,
Bridleways, roads and footpaths.
Boots
slosh in mud, crackle leaves and snap sticks.
Birds singing, churchbells ringing,
Peace, tranquillity.
